Zephaniah

This week, we take a look at Zephaniah, number 9 of our 12 Minor prophets. Zephaniah prophesied during the reign of Josiah, a godly king. Zephaniah and Josiah really brought a one-two punch to Judah to turn them around spiritually. The sad part is that this revival did not last long. When Josiah dies, things turn for the worse almost immediately. The work of these two men, however, does bring a spiritual renewal to the land. What does this say to us? First, it tells us that there is a spiritual recipe that brings renewal, and these leaders are going to share that recipe with us. Second, we must not wait until the end of life to embrace the recipe. One might say, “better late than never” and while that is true we are going to see in very real time the cost on a man and his family for living a selfish life until right before the end. He goes to heaven, but his family paid a huge price for his rebellion. Thirdly, this recipe is going to teach us to reject everything that is false. This is important as false is selling quite nicely in our world today.
