This week, we consider the OT book of Obadiah. This is the shortest book in the OT. There are actually 12 Obadiah’s named in the Scriptures, and our guy this week is one of them. He writes a stinging letter to Edom. Edom has committed some terrible crimes against his brother Jacob, and God is naming the crimes and pronouncing punishment. This is a great lesson on how not to treat your neighbor, but more than that, it shows us how attitudes toward enemies and rivals can actually be stepping stones to our own destruction.
