A Family Affair, Marriage

Beginning in chapter 5:22-6:9 Paul turns his attention to family organization including husbands, wives, children, and servants. We will begin this week by looking back a bit into Gen 2. We want to see exactly how God set this thing called “marriage” up in the beginning. By the way, He has not changed His mind on marriage. If we then want to understand Ephesians 5 correctly we must dig out the correct context. I have listened to a multitude of preachers try to reshape this Ephesians passage to sound better to modern ears. I have heard men recite Ephesians 5 in a way to make them the unquestioned dictator. I have heard women recite it and suggest that they answer to no one. Over the next two weeks we are going to see what God says about this passage and see that His plan blesses all who submit to it.
