Inside the Home that God Builds

Bill Leveridge

We are still locked into Ephesians 5, and this week we tackle some tough instructions given to parents and kids. “Fathers do not provoke your children to anger, and children obey your parents.” Growing up there was a period of time when my parents really needed some instructions. Even though they seemed hesitant to receive those instructions from me! I know that you will find this hard to believe but they (on numerous occasions) refused to let me do what made sense to me. It gets worse, at times they even forced me to do things that I did not want to do. Can you even imagine parents like this? THis verse says, “Fathers do not provoke your children to anger,” and yet my dad made me mad quite often. If I would have had this verse memoprized I would have suggested that he read it (NOT). Of course at the time “children obey your parents” did not seem nearly as important to me. Join us on Sunday as we shatter the modern ideas of parenting and being a kid and consider God’s standard for both.
