From Here to There Starts Today

This week, our final installment in this series ends with our old friend Peter. A few weeks ago, we learned that after bragging about being willing to die, he would not even stay awake for an hour. Now, after Jesus is arrested, he denies knowing Him entirely. Peter decides to go back to fishing, taking six other disciples with him. To everyone's surprise, while they’re fishing, Jesus appears on the shore having a cookout. Yes, Jesus invites Peter to join, but he ends up being the one to get cooked. Peter has failed in a major way. He has boasted about being the “most” faithful, even to the point of death, and he probably meant what he said, but his faith was not as strong as he thought. Jesus essentially 'cooks' Peter, not to humiliate him, but to humble him for the work He has planned for him.
