The Sin of Worry

Jun 29, 2025    Bill Leveridge

This week, we take a look at probably one of the most (if not the most) common sins among the people of God. No, it is not sex, drugs, and alcohol; it is worry. According to the Mayo Clinic the following are possible medical problems associated with worry, Heart disease, Diabetes, Thyroid problems, such as hyperthyroidism, Respiratory disorders, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, Drug misuse or withdrawal, Withdrawal from alcohol, anti-anxiety medications (benzodiazepines) or other medications, Chronic pain or irritable bowel syndrome, Rare tumors that produce certain fight-or-flight hormones. This does not include the devastation that it can bring to relationships in your circle. Yes, God says not to worry; therefore, it is a sin to worry, and the bad part is that worry does absolutely nothing to change the circumstances. What must we do to fight worry?
