So, you want me to pray? Pt. 1
Aug 16, 2026 • Bill Leveridge
For the next two weeks, we consider what we refer to as “The Lord’s Prayer.” Actually, this is not strictly speaking “The Lord’s Prayer”; it is the disciples' prayer given to us by our Lord. The prayer of the Lord was given in John 17, and it is different than the one that He gave to us. Yes, as you would agree (I think), believers are to pray, but prayer in the first century had become this ostentatious, showy, lengthy, meaningless ritual. Prayer is to be communication with God. It is very personal and yes, at times, it is public, but never to impress others. A very important part of prayer was the attitude of the one praying. Join us on Sunday as we take a look at the first part of “The Lord’s Prayer.”
